The short version, in one breath.
By default, your trip plans live in your browser. We don't track you. We don't run ads. We don't sell anything. If you create an account to sync across devices, we store the same data we'd otherwise keep in your browser — that's it. No marketing emails, no third-party trackers, no behavioral profiling.
What stays in your browser.
If you use EaseAway without signing in, all of this lives in localStorage on your device — never sent anywhere:
- Your trip itinerary (destinations, hotels, activities, restaurants).
- Your family profile (size, kids' ages, dietary preferences, accessibility needs, rhythm — wake / cutoff / bed times).
- Your loves and avoids (activity preferences for personalization).
- Saved hotels, filter state, favorites.
- An anonymous event log (capped at 500 events per device — powers rhythm self-tuning, never includes PII like email, name, address, phone).
Clearing your browser storage clears all of it. No copies kept anywhere else.
If you choose to sign in.
We offer optional account sign-in (via magic link sent to your email) so your trips and preferences follow you across devices — desktop to phone, browser to browser. When you sign in:
- The same data described above is uploaded to a private, encrypted database (Supabase, hosted on AWS).
- Your email is the only identifier we hold — no name, no phone, no address required.
- Row-level security ensures no one can access your data except you, authenticated with your email.
- You can sign out at any time. Local data on your current device continues to work normally.
- You can request full deletion of your cloud-stored data by emailing hello@easeaway.app.
Sign-in is opt-in. You'll never be prompted unless you choose it.
Cookies and tracking.
EaseAway sets no cookies for tracking or advertising. The only browser storage we use is the localStorage mentioned above — which technically isn't a cookie, doesn't follow you between sites, and only the EaseAway pages can read it.
We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, Meta Conversions API, TikTok Pixel, or any other behavioral tracker. Period.
Third-party services we touch.
Some destinations on EaseAway send data to other services. Here's the complete list:
- Google Places API — used by us, on our servers, to populate hotel / attraction / restaurant details and photos. Place IDs and place data flow from Google to us; no user data goes the other way.
- Google Maps — opens in a new tab when you click "Get Directions" or "View on Map." From that point you're on Google's site, governed by Google's privacy policy.
- Google Fonts — we load the Fraunces and Inter typefaces from fonts.googleapis.com. Google sees a request from your IP for a font file. No identifying info beyond that.
- Google Gemini AI — we use Gemini in advance (not in real time) to summarize Google reviews into category verdicts (food / scenery / kid-friendly / etc.). Every summary passes a strict substring validator that rejects anything that isn't a verbatim quote from a real review. Your usage of EaseAway never sends data to Gemini.
- Supabase — only if you sign in (Section III). Hosts your synced trip data and email-based authentication. Subject to Supabase's privacy policy.
We do not use SearchAPI or any other third-party data broker. (An earlier version of EaseAway sourced data via SearchAPI; that pipeline has been retired.)
Data sharing.
We never sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing, advertising, or any other purpose. We never share your trip plans with anyone. The only services that hold your data are the ones listed in Section V — and only the data they need to do their job.
Children's privacy.
EaseAway is designed for families, including families with children, but we do not knowingly collect any personal data from anyone, including children. Sign-in (optional) requires an email address and is intended for adults planning trips. The "kids' ages" field in your family profile lives in your browser or your own account — we never see it.
Email Communications
If you voluntarily provide your email address through our notification signup, we will only use it to send updates about new destinations and features. You can unsubscribe at any time.
